Of course you want a dot-com extension. Everyone does. But one of the biggest mistakes you can make choosing a domain name is picking one that is difficult to scan and impossible to pronounce. By "difficult to scan" I mean a word or phrase that bares so little resemblance to a real word or phrase that it is resistant to mental retention and you forget it the moment you hear it. An example might be when two or three common English words are severed and reconnected into one impossible mishmash as in "landarchass," a shortened version of a business name that a fictional businessman might choose instead of "landscaping architects and associates" (by the way, if youre interested, this name is still available as a dot-com; I didnt dare use a real name).
Dont do it! Youre better off picking a name that at first glance has nothing to do with your business than one that the average person cant say without stumbling over his tongue. The reason is simple: if you cant say it you cant remember it much less spell it when needed. And with the coming proliferation of new domain extensions both in Latin Script and Arabic, Cyrillic or whatever, the chances of someone misunderstanding a domain name will increase exponentially. There are plenty of examples of this mistake out there. How many times have you asked someone for their website and theyve told you what it is not once but twice or three times, and youve still left them wondering what it was they had said? Or you left thinking you had it; but when you got to your computer youd either forgotten completely or couldnt get it to render no matter how many likely combinations you tried.
When you draw something, you need to know about the technique used so you are able to give the sense of what you want. One of techniques in making pictures is pointillism; thats a technique using a series of dots to get the wanted image. As any other job, you need to be patient during this technique, because like the statement above it makes dots to arrange the image. As the preparation, you need some special pens especially tip pens with free flowing ink. I suggest not using ballpoint because it needs movement to get ink flowing well. Then the better is to use Staedtler pigment liners that are very useful because it is available in various sizes that you will need. To start with a good line drawing, outline the contours of your subjects rapidly include the place of shapes of the major shadows.
Keep in mind that the level of difficulty of the subject is appropriate for their age and their skill level. This can be difficult when you are working with a number of children of differing ages or when youre working with your own children and they are of multiple skill levels. Please remember never to use competitive words such as wrong, right best and ensure you praise, praise, praise. Even when drawing the same subject, each childs interpretation will ensure a unique piece of artwork every time. After all, how can they be compared, just as De Vinci cant be compared to Monet? If you notice that your child is taking a real interest in art and drawing you may want to get them enrolled in classes so that they can enhance their skills and embrace that aspect of their world. Children who are also experiencing difficulty mastering fine motor skills or displaying poor concentration skills will greatly benefit from these drawing lessons, just be patient. Providing they are not too distracting for the other students and are enjoying their drawing, keep encouraging them and praising them. In the end this will reap wonderful rewards both for the child and the teacher.
Are you a parent interested in helping your child build on their drawing talent? You may have even been surfing the net looking for step-by-step projects they will enjoy. Once you find a project, then what? How do you present that information for your child to draw? YouTube offers many great drawing ideas with step-by-step instructions. Once you have found an artist that offers an instructional drawing video that you find fun and easy, do the project first yourself. Once you have your head around the basic principles, then you can prepare to pass this lesson on to your children. Show the children the completed project first. Next, take your students through each step of the lesson. You draw each element of shape, or line, first and have the children copy what you do. Take your time to ensure every child has completed each instruction before moving on. With very young children you may need to take them through each step with dot-to-dot. This way they will not feel discouraged at not meeting the level of the older students work.
